AT HOME_ living room update

As some of you might have seen on Instagram, my living room got an update ever since I first shared it on the blog.  It was the first room I ever showed here of my current apartment, as it felt as the most finished space around the house at the time.  However, my interior (and yours too, I’m sure) is always a work in progress.  The majority of the pieces in this room had been with me ever since I was living in my studio apartment and thus I couldn’t resist making a few changes!  I moved a few plants around the house, hung a print from Studio Proba and a photo made by my late grandfather and added a few small accessories, but the biggest change is my brand new couch by Sofacompany!  I chose my previous sofa because of its storage compartments, which were a lifesaver when living on merely 35 square meters.  However, placed  in my current 90 square meter apartment, the proportions suddenly felt a little off and I started dreaming of something that fitted my current living situation better…. and that’s were Sofacompany decided to lend a helping hand!

The Danish company invited me to try out their new “Make Me” tool, which allows you to try all kinds of fabrics on the sofa of your choice.   Since I wanted to avoid a look that felt too vintage, I quickly settled on the Dane sofa.  Much like my previous couch, this modular sofa is easily arranged into a different arrangement if I’d want to change the lay-out of my living room, and is just as easily moved if I’d leave this apartment in the future. (When you’ve moved 3 times in less than 3 years, this is something you consider!)   Based on the fabric samples I ordered (for free!), I decided to stick with the color grey but chose a darker tint with a bit of structure instead, called Andie light grey.   For extra comfort and adaptability, I added a pouf element in the same fabric.

It’s been a week since my order arrived and I couldn’t have been more happy with it.   The new sofa gives the living room a more mature look and turns out to be super comfortable.  The pouf doubles as a foot rest and an extra coffee table, but will also offer extra seating space when I have visitors.   However,  this new addition makes me want to make a few other changes as well.  The carpet now feels a tad too small and might make place for the bigger carpet of my dining room (which looks gorgeous underneath my marble dining table but I’m always scared to spill food on it), if I can find a replacement over there!  Also, I’m thinking about replacing my DIY coffee table / magazine rack with something made out of glass and black steel. Let’s just say you can expect many more updates on my interior to come… For now, tell me in the comments what you think of this new addition!
